Solent Forum - Read a blog from Bird Aware Solent on how to identify the Solent’s large wading birds
Solent Forum - Osborne Bay - Recreational activity surveys (undertaken as part of ReMEDIES) identified the seagrass bed at Osborne Bay as facing heightened levels of pressure from anchoring activity. A voluntary no anchor zone (VNAZ) will be installed on March 21st-22nd and will consist of 8 marker buoys being placed in Osborne Bay to mark out the presence of seagrass. Its aim is to help boaters make an informed decision about where to anchor.
KHM Portsmouth – LNTM 43/24 - a Voluntary No Anchoring Zone (VNAZ) has now been designated / established in Osborne Bay to assist with the continued healthy growth of seagrass in that location of the eastern Solent. Solent Forum Southern Water investment - Southern Water has been given the green light to increase its investment in avoiding the use of storm overflows after a short-term £10m boost was ratified by Defra.

Solent Forum - Beachbuoy - An independent expert review of Beachbuoy, a web-based tool that provides near real-time information about storm release activity near coastal bathing waters, was commissioned by Southern Water. The review covered four key topic areas of relevance: water quality, oceanographic modelling, user and engagement, and software and systems.

RYA - Exciting news for the British Sailing Team as Vita Heathcote and Chris Grube secure their spots on Team GB for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games! RYA South - Paris Olympics - Massive congratulations to Vita Heathcote from Royal Lymington Yacht Club - heading to Paris 2024
RYA Race Officials - We would like to welcome Tom Rusbridge as the new Chair of Race Management Committee (RMC) from the 1st April 2024 and we are excited that Tom will be able to take the committee forward, drawing on his knowledge and skills having supported numerous RYA events and activities over the years: the Eric Twiname Junior Championships and Team Racing, the Youth Nationals and Regional Junior Championships. Tom’s experience as an RYA Race Officer, first appointment when he was 19, helps him understand the barriers that the younger Race Officials face and how they can overcome them. Tom has progressed through the RRO/NRO qualifications and now represents the RYA as a GBR IRO.
