FB - Stay
afloat by sharing a boat.
Many vessels can spend significant periods of time on their
mooring, boat sharing is a good way for recreational boaters to enjoy
getting on the water without bearing the full brunt of costs. To
avoid problems later, a written agreement is crucial, even for boats
shared within families. RYA members can benefit from our template
agreement for Syndicate Ownership of a Boat, and our Sale and
Purchase Pack containing all the essential information on buying and
selling a boat. Find out more

RYA FB - Seven years ago, at 56, Kevin Thomas had a stroke. One day he was running a business, the next he woke up with his right side not working. “Me and my wife decided as a family we were going to get on and do and do our best to beat this. “The first time I got out on the water sailing, I felt joyful. I was doing something that I felt that I wasn't incumbent by my disability. I could compete with people on a level playing field.” If you’re living with a disability, Kevin couldn’t recommend sailing enough. The freedom, the wind, the water - it’s life-changing. https://fb.watch/Bq3tKyozyn/ #Sailability #RYASailability RYA Sailability
RYA FB - 2000 - 2025: Our sixth era The new millennium opened with the RYA riding high on the world stage, after a stunning performance at the Sydney Olympic Regatta that saw Team GBR take three gold and two silver medals. 2005 saw the news that London had been chosen as host city for the 2012 Olympic Games, and the intended venue for the Olympic Regatta would be held at Weymouth and Portland.
‘Foiling is the future’ had become the new mantra for sailors now known as Generation X, the RYA added foiling to the syllabuses for both sailing and windsurfing schemes. However, we saw the first Covid based lockdowns were pulling everyone back to shore, and the whole of the leisure boating community in the UK would look to the Association for guidance as to what could be done and when.
Just how different the RYA will be in the future can be seen in the way that the old Dinghy Show would morph into the ‘Dinghy and Watersports Show’ in 2021, whilst the earlier investment made by the RYA into the new formats of sailing was rewarded with a gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Regatta for Ellie Aldridge in the Women’s Formula Kite event. Just the latest success for an Association that for 150 years has focused on making boating the best experience it can be and as accessible to as many people as possible.
